Bruce Dorland

Managing Director -

Bruce Dorland has lived technology and software for years. After starting his career in professional services at Arthur Anderson Business Consulting, he moved on to Brightspark, a leading VC and incubator, where he led Product Management for software startups in the ecommerce and mobile application spaces. Tucows is where he led Product Management for SaaS Messaging Services. His products were used by over 3 million users globally at large Service Providers & Enterprises including Virgin, Comcast, and Hughes Network Systems. Bruce co-founded gdR to bring a new level of tech industry insight and professionalism to recruiting. Bruce holds his Honours Bachelor in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, has received his Pragmatic Marketing product management certification and is certified in Rapid Application Development.

Melissa Grossman

Director -

Melissa Grossman brings a rich combination of recruitment, digital media and consumer goods experience to gdR. After a highly successful career as a brand builder and marketer with Spin Master Toys, AOL and Brightspark, Melissa moved into recruitment and human resources in both corporate and agency roles. Her technology, media and recruitment industry experience provides a critical and unique connection between both. Melissa co-founded gdR to elevate the recruiting experience for both clients and candidates and to ultimately help innovative companies find game changing talent. Melissa is Vice President of the Larry Grossman Foundation for Kids charity and is co-founder of the Inspire Network. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.

Mic Berman

Leadership Development Leader -

Mic leads the Grossman Dorland leadership development practice, which is focussed on growing people’s leadership capabilities and accelerating a company’s ability to scale and win. Mic has over twenty years experience in the US, Canada, and Internationally. Since 2012, Mic has coached numerous leading startups & leaders to transform their impact, to create alignment, clear goals and plans, and ultimately achieve higher performance. Her last operating role was COO of Freshbooks, a leading SaaS accounting software company. She has also held leadership roles in marketing, business development, and product at Mozilla, Yahoo, and CGI, and spent her earlier career at McKinsey & Company. Mic earned her CPCC from Coaches Training Institute, her MBA in global business from the University of Toronto, and a B.A.S from York University.

Wendy Firestone

Wendy Firestone has been an integral part of the gdR team since 2008. She has been incredibly successful at identifying talent and matching them with strategic career opportunities, whether at innovative startups or large multi-nationals. Her focused passion for talent acquisition has allowed her to help establish and grow some of our most successful industry relationships. Through her active community involvement and eye for industry trends, she has learned the tech and media landscape inside and out. Wendy earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.

Brandon Shim-Ping

Director, Talent -

Brandon Shim-Ping has a passion for building the tech teams behind great products. Brandon joined us from the strategic solutions group at a global recruiting brand where he sourced tech talent for midsized software vendors, as well as the development, professional services and product teams of industry leaders like IBM, Telus, Rogers and Bell. His insight into the local job market and dedication to understanding the culture of our clients makes Brandon a natural fit for the gdR approach: we’re your trusted, knowledgeable partner in finding the best tech talent. Brandon graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science, with a double major in Cognitive Science and Psychology.

Travis Harvey

Researcher -

Since 2010, Travis has worked alongside our recruiting team to help strategically identify talented tech professionals with the most sought-after skills and experiences. He’s a key part of our team as well as our in-house gamer, keeping us in the loop on the newest in mobile and social gaming. Travis earned his Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier in Communications, and also studied Advertising at Mohawk College and Graphic Design at Humber College.

Jamie Collins

Talent & Client Manager -

Jamie has a passion for tech, loves building relationships and finding out what motivates people to succeed. He joined the gdR team from a North American tech recruiting brand where he recruited for up-and-coming Toronto tech startups. Jamie earned his Bachelors degree at the University of Western Ontario and completed the Broadcast Journalism program at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology.

Isra Mohammed

Talent & Client Manager -

Isra joined the gdR team from a boutique tech recruiting agency where she specialized in recruiting for startups to midsize tech companies. She brings several years of experience working with tech talent up to a leadership level. A psych major in university, her curiosity for figuring out what motivates people makes her a natural fit for our relationship-building approach to recruiting. Isra holds a B.Sc. in Human Resources and Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Samantha Colaco

Talent & Client Manager -

Samantha Colaco is a startup enthusiast with experience working client and agency side to recruit top talent for some of Toronto’s most promising companies. She loves the hustle, drive, and ownership that comes with it. Samantha earned her business degree from York University majoring in HR with honours, and has been in the recruiting world ever since. Her interests outside of work include event planning, movies, and discovering restaurants.

Tara Rhodes

Tara Rhodes brings a passion for all things self development and leadership. Combining her career in digital media plus and her experience in coaching emerging leaders, she has unique insight into the mindset and strategies required to build a solid foundation for growth. She stands for the positive transformation of her clients, and the subsequent impact that they will have. Tara earned her Bachelor of International Business from Carleton University in Ottawa, and is also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach from the Coaches Training Institute and an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaches Federation.

Jess Rowen

Jessica Rowen has spent her decade-long B2B marketing career with her ear to the ground, telling stories that matter. From the tech community to job seekers, her natural curiosity and passion for the digital world have helped her match the right content to the right audience, bringing value to the discovery process. Jessica joined the team from a global recruitment firm where she was a National Marketing Strategist and has also held marketing positions with large and small tech companies including a hardware manufacturer and an adtech startup.

Anne Servidad

Digital Marketing Coordinator -

Anne Servidad has jumpstarted her career in tech by working with several tech startups, focusing on digital marketing and writing. The tech industry has brought her opportunities to freelance, creating content such as blogs, press releases and more. Anne graduated from the University of Toronto with a major in Marketing and a minor in Writing. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the wonders of Toronto.
